PS1 - Dirty Laser?

Hi

I recently retrieved my old PS1 from my parents house. I played Crash Bandicoot 2 which worked fine, but then tried ISS Pro which got "stuck" sometimes on the loading screen. If i rebooted it a few times it would eventually let me into the game after which the game would work fine. Just tried Resident Evil 2 and noticed i only get about the first 1 second of speech in the cut scenes - all the other sound / music works fine.

Is this likely to be a problem with the laser being dirty (in which case, what is the best way to clean it) or could it be some other problem? I haven't used the console for about 5 or 6 years i'd guess but i don't remember any of these problems happening before.

Try it with the machine upside down.

If you wanna clean it, try isopropyl alcohol. Cleaned my PSP laser with it and use it for all kinds of stuff now. Try a pharmacist (it is dangerous/flammable so they may ask for id).

Would probably be cheaper to buy a new PlayStation. lol
