Broken PS3 disk drive?

I have recently shifted round all of my gaming equipment and shave only just turned on my PS3 since moving it (I was very careful with it) and when I turn it on the disk drive makes a horrible grating noise for a few seconds.

If I hit eject it makes the same noise even though there is no disk in it.

It won't accept disks being put in it either, if I slide a disk in it doesn't complete the process and draw the disk in like it normally does.

This is a long shot but is there a simple fix for this?

It is a launch model if that helps?

If it is knackered, how are Sony with fixing things? Quick?

If it is out of warranty Olly open it up and reseat the two arms that take the disc, the grinding noise sounds like that to me.

Someone just asked me whether I'd tried it stood vertically.

So I did.

Magically fixed!
