    Computer Won't Upload Anything

I will start by saying that I purchased a new router yesterday and only noticed this problem occurring after then.

For some reason I am unable to upload any files from my computer. I first noticed it when I ran some speed tests at www.speedtest.net. The ping and DL tests worked fine however the UL test just didn't do anything.

I repeated this at other speed test websites, all the time with the same thing happening. Simply nothing happens when it comes to upload. This is the case in multiple browsers (tried Chrome, Firefox and IE).

At first I wasn't too concerned as I could live without UL tests working. However, I attempted to upload some images to my Photobucket account and am unable to do so.

As a point of reference, I know for a fact I uploaded something last Thursday so it's a recent change that has occurred. Whilst the router has changed I will point out that every other computer on the network is running without this problem so I believe the issue lies on this one machine.

I've run full virus/spyware scans and no problems reported.

Tried with firewall disabled? Tried disabling security software's network scanning features if installed? Wired or wireless? Using default MTU setting? What O/S?

Right, first off it's Windows XP and disabling the firewall gives the same result. This is via a wireless connection (but other machines connected wirelessly have not had this problem).

I believe it is the default MTU setting but not 100% on that.

Just as an addition to my earlier post. I remembered that I did do some Photobucket uploads on Saturday morning so it was definitely working then (again this was before the new router). However I have attempted a system restore to last Thursday but the problem remained so I have reversed that process.

Firewall on the router or software? Which router?

It's incredibly weird you can't upload files but you can post here as they should be on the same port.

Have you disabled Flash at all or messed with the settings for it? A lot websites use flash for uploads due to the general suckyness of sending files using standard forms.

It's just a software firewall that I've disabled.

The router is a Belkin but I'm not sure of the exact model number and stuck at work at the moment. Definitely looks like the one of the page below and I'm pretty sure I got the N+ model.

That confused me as well. Just as a bit of further information, I was running Final Fantasy XI on that same PC flawlessly and that is constantly sending packets of information so the console hasn't been blocked totally from sending data. I haven't knowingly messed with any Flash settings but willing to check but not sure where I should be looking.

Ok, the router itself will have a firewall on it. You'll need to check the settings and experiment with turning that on and off (and any stages in between e.g. medium). Don't leave it completely off for too long.

If it was the router firewall, wouldn't that block every machine from doing this and not just mine?

TBH I just use the router firewall and the standard firewall on Windows. That should be good enough.

Assuming it turns out to not be firewall-related, do all the wireless PCs in your home use the same adapter? If not, it's possible that the adapter you're using has some weird compatibility issue with your new router. Perhaps see if a newer driver is available, or test using a slower wireless mode (b instead of g, etc).

I didn't see the bit about the other machines working sorry. It's curious that this started when you got the new router.

                      Does ftp work?

Your antivirus system isn't ESET by any chance is it?

Sorry for not responding but only just got to use the computer again today.

Regarding Hohum's question, I'm pretty certain my wireless adaptor is different to the ones used on the laptops. Both the adaptor and router is Belkin. I have updated the drivers for it but it made no difference.

Just as a general curiousity I placed my computer into the DMZ on the router and the problem persisted. Does this mean we can rule out the router itself as being the cause?

And FullSpecWarrior, my antivrius is AVG free. I thought I'd try and disable it to test that way but unable to find anyway to do so.

EDIT - found the option to disable AVG temporarily. Still din't make any difference.

Looks like this may be the issue. Managed to "procure" a CAT5 cable from work and hooked up the PC to the router via a wired connection. Uploads worked fine.

Guess I'm buying a new wireless adaptor come payday.

Check your wireless adapter device properties, make sure you haven't enabled something you shouldn't (such as jumbo frames).
