WARNING Please dont read this thread if noticing small hardware flaws/faults bothers you, as once you see any it can be very hard to stop noticing them!
Before I go on, I realise I am probably over analysing this a bit, but I would just like to know if I have the 'best' DS Lite I can get, especially before it gets replaced by the DSi and dissappears from store shelves.
I bought a white DS Lite in 2007, but just recently I have been wondering if I might have some of the 'poorer' screens Nintendo used in some DS Lite units that have reduced viewing angles, or if they are completely normal. This thread is what made my curious:-
and heres the picture that was originally in the thread:-

As you can see, the DS Lite on the left has reduced viewing angles, and I have noticed a similar effect when playing Super Mario 64 DS on mine, but I am not sure if I am looking at the same angle or not. When I look upwards at my screens (especially the top screen) its starts to look whiter/washed out and greens/greys start to loose colour, and when I look downwards it looks quite dark and colours starts to invert. However looking sideways always looks fine.
I have tried to match the angle from the above picture and it doesnt look quite the same on mine, but with about 5-10 degrees difference it does look similar, although the thread author does say normal DS Lites do the same thing but at more extreme angles so mine might just be normal. Heres a collage picture of mine at different angles
Downwards:-

Upwards:-

(If possible its easiest to view the pictures if you save them to your PC first so you dont see moire effects, although at 2.5-2.6MB each they might be a bit big for people on slow connections)
All pictures were taken with the DS screen brightness set to the highest, and the hinge at the first 'angled' position. I also have some Hori screen protectors fitted, although I think they make very little (if any) difference.
Does this viewing angle appear normal? I dont have any other DS Lite consoles to compare it to, so if anyone who could load up Super Mario 64 DS and compare it my pics it would be very much appreciated
(Even better if you have a launch model)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, my DS Lite does not appear to have the yellow touch screen issue that so many DS Lite's seems to have. You can see the problem here:-
and heres an example picture of a DS Lite I found online showing just how yellow the touch screen can be:-

However, although both my screens are white they dont appear to match completely - my top screen appears to be a brighter/cooler shade, which makes the bottom screen look yellower/warmer by contrast (This does not show up in pictures though) so I just wondered if this is normal, or are there DS Lites available with perfect matching screens?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I am also curious about the standard screen response time of a DS Lite. When i'm playing New Super Mario Bros I can see a faint ghost image of Mario's hat when falling from a jump, heres a pic:-

Is this standard for a DS Lite? I realise all LCD's have a certain reponse time, but as mentioned in the earlier link, some DS screens apparently have worse response times than others.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lastly I am considering getting a DSi/DSi XL some time in the future, but just wondered if the viewing angles/yellow screen issues affect them aswell? Or is Nintendo now sourcing all its screens from one supplier (Sharp?)
....I probably would not mind if all DS consoles had the same issues, but they dont
It just seems like a bit of a lottery.
Thanks for reading such a long post, and for any replies
