playing Pal 60hz games on Pal PS2

    Hi all

I have been asking a few places but not getting much in the way of answers.
I am trying to play Persona 3 FES at 60hz. the PAL game is defaulted to 50hz and is unbreable (no pun intended teddy) playing at thats speed after watching youtube vids of the game playing at a brisk speed.

I have gone down the action replay max route but I got so fed up after trying a million legit master codes and 60hz codes that I gave up all together

There is a few questions that I am not if someone can answer.
Does the HD loader or HD advance boost the game to 60hz? those softwares are used with the PS2 hardrive. might be an expensive setup with the hardrive and network adapter.

Has anyone had any luck with either the Xploder V5 or HD Xploder? in general, do any of these cds help max the game to 60hz?

Thanks in advance for helping out a PAL gamer in need

HA! I was reading this the other day...

It appears to be you! Sorry bud unless you can set a switch on the PS2 like the Saturn it doesnt look likely. Importing is the answer.

The swap magic boot disc lets you force 60hz on pal stuff but I seem to remember it screwing up the screen position. Might work if you have a tv with a adjustable screen position or just use an old crt monitor.

I did say before Ive been asking a few places. Thats the only past post I did.

I did try the swap magic trip some months ago. only to accidently snap a tiny side of the ps2 tray so I wont attempt to do it again.

If you're talking about breaking the stupidly thin retaining arms when removing the disc tray front piece I found that out the hard way too. Somewhere on the AVForums and probably here too I posted a method that minimises the chance of this happening a long time ago.

          Worth repeating:-

The 'trick' is NOT to attempt removing the front one side at a time. If you do the angular force exerted on the other side arm will bend or snap it.

You need to insert a very thin shim, something like a scapel blade, in the gap between each arm and the front at the same time. This levers the arms out just enough to disengage the hidden <2mm retaining tabs. The front can then be pulled straight off but you still need to be very, very careful. If one tab is not disengaged, and it's very difficult to tell beforehand whether they both are, you can get the same result.

My first attempt broke both arms so I worked out this method before trying it on my other PS2. Although more successful I'd either used a slightly too thick shim or didn't pull the front off straight enough. Whatever the reason I found out later it had still bent one arm enough to crack the plastic.

If you're fitting the increasingly difficult to find 'pro' slotted replacement tray drawer front which makes using the slide card easier and looks better you must also be careful. Without use of a craft knife you may find they're not fully compatible with all PS2 versions. If you try to fit them unmoddified you could easily damage or break those retaining arms wasting all your previous efforts.
