Who is it best to go with in regards to Customs taxes?

I want to bring a large item over from Japan. There's no way it'd get through Customs if the price was marked down so I figured I'm gonna have to pay.

Who should I choose for delivery if I do not want to pay the tax upon delivery? I know for sure that one firm definitely sends a letter after the delivery has been made, but I can't remember who it is.

well i can only speak for ireland but i know with ups every delivery i have got from them i have been stung for tax

Perhaps you misread my post? As I said above, I cannot avoid Customs taxes on this item. I want to know which carrier to use so that I get invoiced after the item has been delivered and not there and then at my front door.

When I bought a CPU from Bah'rain I was sent the customs invoice after. Never paid IIRC.

I've had to pay something there and then at the door via UPS. I had to go and borrow cash from a neighbour. Grr...

Yep, DHL send you an invoice, UPS raep your wallet at the front door.

Just remember to follow up DHL and make sure they send an invoice or they'll threaten to send the bailiffs round eighteen months later.
