megadrive genesis query

hello

need an answer if anyone can help!

i have a uk/pal megadrive and was given 2 genesis carts that play fine in my standard uk/pal machine

i thought they were not compatible - krustys fun house and lion king - both play fine

i know uk/usa snes carts are a different shape etc but what about uk/usa megadrive?

can anyone go into some detail here, as i am confused, having just got back into some megadrive gaming!!!

UK/US MD games are the same - although some of the later released games were region protected.

oh right thanks - that is helpful to know. i thought genesis games didn't even fit the slot, that is why i was surprised more than anything else

the UK/US games had the same casing- it was the Jap games which would'nt fit due to different shaped carts.

Also, you can get JPN games to fit by filing down the edges of the cartridge slot ever so slightly. Took me about five minutes. The region protection on later games is a bit of a bugger, though. I guess there are adaptors / mods.
