Vista notebook, can I put XP on it?

I have a Gateway 6226b that has Vista on it, I hate Vista badly on this it slows everything down

I have a XP home edition disc SP2 (from 2002) I want to install but I get this message "setup did not find any hard disk drives"?

Either get the sata drivers for the laptop and put them on a floppy, or go into the bios and set the drive from AHCI to IDE, the XP setup will then detect your hard disk and continue the install

Actually, lol floppy drives, do the 2nd method, you can always install SATA drivers and then switch it back once XP is installed, or just leave it.

yes, its a ballache, you could always try it, or upgrade to windows 7!

(Which I think is still a bit of a hog, but eh people like it)

Pfft, Vista re-install & seek out usb HDD it is then

Worst case if it slows up again I'll re-install and not have to waste eternity moving my docs & files.
