Are there any 37" Full HD Plasma's??

    Morning all,

I've Been googling & all I can seem to find are HD Ready 37" Plasmas no that appear to do the full Monty at sub 42" sizes.

So was just wondering if anyone with a bit more knowledge knew if there are 37" ones available??

My CRT is starting to wain a bit & I'm getting a lot of Red Colour Bleed in the image (Mostly on Cartoons like Family Guy & South Park it's really noticeable) so think I may have to look at outing it soon & don't really want LCD if I can avoid it.
Also I thing 37" will be about the biggest I need as I'm sitting about 3-3.5feet away from the screen so anything bigger would be a waste.

So can I get a 37 are are 40's about the smallest for a Plasma??

    Thanks

    Neil

Great reviews, although the 42" is only £20 more!

Went for an LCD instead though as it was going to be permanently connected to a PC. Would have gone for that model if not for that.

LG do a little PDP TV, but the one I reviewed was not very good.

          What's your max budget?

            Thanks for the input guys.

            Viera looks good Megs
Might have a peek we have a Richer Sounds local.

            Lyris,
Max budget is probably about £600-£700 if possible.
Thing is if I can get the TV from Comet or Currys then the budget really goes out the window as I'm picking up a new Washing Machine & Fridge Freezer after my wedding next weekend so can tack pretty much any telly onto the Finance agreement at the same time.

Like I said the only reason I'm looking at 37" is because of the size of the lounge.
At 3 metres across & sitting at about 2metres away I think anything bigger may overpower the lounge but I'd be open to suggestions if it wont be too bad (Can get a pic tonight of the viewing position etc if it will help??) & if I can go bigger to get the best I can then I will do

            Thanks again

I have an older model (2008) 37" Pana plasma. It's a great set, SD upscaling is a bit soft but HD (PS3) looks great. Never had any problems with retention/screen burn either.

Yeah, I don't think 1080p makes any difference on a 37" though does it?

You may be able to get an outgoing 40" Panasonic model for around 700... see if any stores are letting go of a TX-P42G10, G15 or V10 for that price (the former is more likely).
Also, I think there are some LG Plasmas at around that price, but they suffer from image retention.

heres what cnet thought of these 4 plasms for you

Soundwave ever considered LED edge or backlight TV's , getting closer to plasma.

^ But still affected by poorer contrast, much worse motion resolution, light un-uniformity/clouding, and poor viewing angle, remember.

I like some LCDs (and the LED TVs on sale now, as you'll know, are LCDs with different backlights), and they're not as unwatchable as some people would have you believe - but now that full resolution Plasmas can be had for the same prices (or better!), I don't see what the point of going for an inferior technology is.

Well I've finally decided I'm going to be jumping in with both feet & getting myself a nice big 42" Panasonic Plasma

I cant afford the new run of G10/G20's but I'll be looking to get myself the outgoing S10 1080p panel

I'll be hopefully sorting it all out next weekend & then it's just deciding what to do with the old CRT...WAY too big for second bedroom set

Thanks for all the advice guys it was much appreciated.
