ps3 to xbox controller adapter?

Hi just a quick question,
I've just bought a ps3 madcatz fightstick TE, and was wondering if there is an adaptor available which would allow me to use it with a modded xbox, and with mame ox, fba and kawax and other stuff like that.
hope someone can help

I?m assuming the arcade stick is USB, if so then yes there is a way to connect it.

XBOX controller connectors are just modified USB connectors.

This adaptor will allow you to do it, they are also really easy to make yourself if you're so inclined.

Now the question of whether it will work or not I have no idea, though I would be interested to know the answer as am interested in doing the same but am in the opposite position to you, I have the adaptor but no stick.

I am afraid its very unlikely to work

Standard Xbox controllers are USB but have a purposefully missing HID (Human Interface Device) descriptors, as well as other peculiarities:-

Thats why Windows wont recognise them unless you install special drivers. The Xbox is programmed to only accept this non-standard controller configuration.

The PS3 is programmed to support standard/normal USB HID controllers by default, but the Xbox isn't.

Now there is a possibility that what your proposing might work with some Xbox homebrew/emulators, but only if they have been specifically programmed to accept standard HID controllers. It almost certainly wont work with any standard Xbox games.

Sorry, thats probably not the news you wanted to hear.

(Note that I have never tested this myself, but I have read of other people asking the same sort of question in other forums)

I wanted to use it specifically with mameox and stuff like that, would be great if it did work. I used to have a stick hooked up to a modded xbox for use with emulators, which worked fine, the only problem I encountered was that the stick wasnt the best quality.

I tried searching to find out if HID support had been implimented in mameox, but I could only find old forum posts requesting it, nothing to suggest it had ever actually been added.

It would be great if it did work though. If you decide to give it a try please let us know how you get on (Keep in mind that even if it does work with mameox it probably wont work with any Xbox menus, so you would need to use a normal controller to load up mameox)
