Gigabit ethernet switch...

So O2 broadband got replaced with Sky broadband yesterday. All is well except that the Sagem modem/router only has 2 usable ethernet ports. The other two are 'reserved for future use'. Anyway, I need 4 ports.

So, can anyone recommend a (minmum) 4 port gigabit ethernet switch? I want gigabit so that my LinkStation can connect to my PS3 faster and my Macbook can backup to it faster. Will that actually work though? Some of the other devices that will be attached to the switch are only 10/100Mbit so will that bring the whole network down to that speed?

Any advice much appreciated.

Nope, the devices will set their speed independently. I have a Netgear 8 port gigabit switch with a mix of 1000 and 100 PCs/consoles (even a wifi access point) and everyone goes its maximum speed.
BTW, as long as you stay with known brands (Linksys, Netgear, D-Link) there will be no problems if you don't have any particular network configuration (like using Jumbo frames on a normal basis which the less expensive routers cannot support or support up to a certain size).
