    Router advice

Well at the moment we have an old Version one Netgear DG834G. I think my parents have a newer model and in general they seem a fine manufacturer so I was thinking of ticking with them unless someone knows a good reason why not.

However I have noticed it keep falling over sometimes we had it drop out completely a month ago and we have the odd issue so its age is showing and also we should be getting ADSL 2+ at the back end of the year.

I was looking around for a replacement basically and thought I should see what is the most modern type or maybe has some useful features.

I noticed there are new models offering 3G, is that even worth it? My new HTC alredy accepts standard wireless I cannot imagine using the 3G would improve it? It seems maybe it is a gimmick rather than useful.

Also does anyone recommend a particular router or one to avoid. Clearly I want one that can do ADSL 2+ so I am future proof.

I'm now in the market for buying an ADSL wireless modem - anyone care to suggest something? I'm fed up with mine crapping out when I do anything other than browse the web.

The Linksys wrt54g is a popular one. Only g though, not N.

Most routers will crap out on you for bittorrent if you don't forward the ports.

bit of a late response, but felixofmars: The 3G is for when your broadband dies. It falls back to 3G. No use if you don't like in a 3G area though.

Unless you need it for work at home, then surely if BB goes down, you just go and play your DS in the garden for a few hours, or go to the shops/cinema etc, till it's fixed.
