Progressive scan output for movies? That'll do me.

We all assume the new Pal models will do Pal progressive but I've not seen it confirmed anywhere yet. Anyone?

it was mentioned somewhere that is only ntsc progressive scan not pal aswell
So I'll need an import machine to play moves in PS mode?

no the progressive scan on it will be for ntsc movies. you wont need to buy an ntsc machine.

So you're saying a UK DVD player will by default play NON R2 NTSC movies straight out of the box..and it's made by Sony?

        Doesn't sound plausible to me.

Unless this new PS2 supports PAL progressive there is no point buying it for dvd usage at all.

I don't quite understand the difference between region 1 and region 2 DVD's.

Are all region 2 DVD's in PAL and all region 1 DVD's in NTSC, or is there more to it than that?

Region 1 DVDs are all NTSC, Region 2 can be either PAL or NTSC since R2 is used in both Europe and Japan.
