PAL Bluray "Rambo" doesn't play on NTSC U/C Playstation 3

    Hi,

I normally buy Region A films, but Play.com had a cheap offer on Rambo so I bought it. On the box it shows region free A,B,C. But when I put it into my USA Playstation 3 I get an error: "Region mismatch".

Any ideas if this is solvable?

    Thanks.

As far as I know, nope. The ABC indicator on the back of the box is incorrect.

Can also confirm it's an error, borrowed a mate's copy and had the same issue. Ended up picking up the HD-DVD

It wouldn't be the first time that the region code on the back of a box has been wrong. Might I suggest bookmarking this site, which lists region codes when they've been tested by users or sites like Movietyme.

Funnily enough, the US version of Rambo is region free, so if you'd followed your usual pattern you'd have been fine

Yeah, weirdly for a Sony flick Rambo is actually Region locked to B, as I discovered when I bought it when it came out.

I think it's because Sony only distributes it in the UK, because it's a Lionsgate film and a Lionsgate release in the US. Sony can do whatever it wants with its own films, but when it's distributing another company's there must be more restrictive licensing terms.
