I've got the Q ACOUSTICS 1010i and ive got the Sony STR-DH700 AV. Its a good entry level AV reciever and works great with the Speakers, never had any issues with it. I spent alot of time looking for an AV which would work well with the speakers and not be to expencive and this came out best really.

i use a Denon 1910 for gaming and home cimema - is it great - full upscaling on all sources to 1080p. Not the best stereo output though, but great for DTSHD etc

      got mine for ?389

Onkyo receivers are very good for the money. Richer Sounds does the TX-SR308 for ?230, which is a brand new one with HDMI 1.4, all the HD audio codecs, etc. Full support for 3D video so it's future proof for the foreseeable future.

I've had one of last year's models for nearly a year now and it's been excellent.

Id say got for Onkyo as well. The newer models (as posted above) are feature filled at a great price. I love my 607. They do tend to get a bit hot so plenty of vent space is a must.

If you wanmt something with a bit more panache than an Onkyo, Yamahas are great for a few quids more though check reviews for specific models, and as above, you're unlikely to go wrong with a Denon.

+1 Great amp loads of features, great sound and you can run it all day and it doesn't get very warm.

I don't have any technical reasoning to back this up, but I have an Onkyo receiver at the moment and I really don't like it at all. It does what it says on the tin, but in comparison to my old Yamaha I think it sounds terrible.

Hopefully going to replace it in a few months (Along with the speakers, which are getting long in the tooth and aren't wonderful anyway) and I think I'll be looking to go back to Yamaha.

I'd also thought about checking one of these out, to match my TV.

Wow that pioneer receiver looks amazing. Such great features for such a good price!

?299 in UK? or might we be shafted again?

+1 Especially if you also want to listen to music. Some AV receivers are quite harsh musically even if good with multichannel video audio.
