dual screen set up question, sony bravia.

    Hey,
trying to get my pc set up with a dual screen layout, monitor/lcd tv.
have got it all set i believe but for one issue, on the sony bravia tv, i have a flickering dimmer which i assume is normally used as either a power saving option, or to prevent screen burn. I have turned off the power saving options without any change as well as playing around with a few other settings.
Its a 100hz tv, so even though i have tried other refresh rates varying from 50-75, it wouldn't have thought this would be an issue.

Has anyone else had similar problems that they have solved or know a solution to my problem?

    thanks is advance!

Just to check, you have changed the settings while on the channel for the PC feed? The Bravia remembers settings for each individual AV port on the TV...

How are you connecting it and what resolution are you using?
A 100hz TV doesn't necessarily accept a 100hz input as they usually double frame 50hz sources. Stick with VESA modes if poss. to be sure.

Mark, can you explain the flicker in more detail?
Like Smouty says, the highest input your TV accepts is 60hz. Turn off all the 100hz "Motionflow" processing, especially for games.

sorry for taking awhile to get back to this, had some other issues ¬_¬

the "flicker" is still here, have tried it with a different cable to my own and still got the same problem.
The flicker is the backlight i think. it lights up every couple of seconds then turns off again,
          running from a dvi-hdmi
          i'm running it at 60hz
resolution is 1280-1024, i have tried other resolutions with the same result.
          motionflow turned off.

all settings changes are definately done on the right port ¬_¬

its rather irritating to say the least.

          thanks again for any help

            Try 1280x720 @60hz

I lot of these are engines so their not 100hz only 60hz so try that. If its via HDMI try 1280x720 (for 720p) or 1920x1080 (1080p).

If your using the VGA port it will probably go up to 1360x768.

The motionflow thing just sounds like a way to reduce screen latency it shouldnt make any difference if you have it on or off (have a similar thing on my older Sony X). I do use VGA though as thru HDMI I had no end of issues but back then HDMI to DVI cards werent correctly setup with nvidia and it overscanned. Havent bothered trying since I got SLI 260s
