    Better to Stream Divx/Xvid? 360 or PS3?

    Hi people,

As of 2010 just wondering which is the better console to stream divx/xvid files over a network. The files are to be on a pc running windows 7 and ideally I'd like to be able to stream them wirelessly through my router to either console.

Just gotta decide which console is gonna end up living in the bedroom for streaming purposes!

I know some people will say its better just to get an xbox1/pc/laptop to do it but i'd rather use the equipment i've already got.

    Any ideas?

avi doesn't stream that well - If you can use mp4 instead, that's designed for streaming.

But to answer your question, I use the 360 (I don't have a PS3) with TVersity and it works well.

I seriously recommend you try PS3 Media Server charlesr, as well as the OP.

I don't see how "avi doesn't stream that well". Care to explain a little?

I would have thought it made more sense to have the PS3 in the living room for BluRay?

I've been streaming avi on XBMC since it was launched - and XBMP before that - without issue on xbox1. I must say the PQ is much better than on 360 IMO.
If you have a recent PC with Win7, using the Divx7 codec for MKV you can stream full HD to 360 as well as regular avi too without transcoding.
