so I accidentally broke my DC motherboard, and am now lumbered with a PAL motherboard instead of the original NTSC one.

Can I do the following to it:

1. Region change mod to NTSC.

2. remove region change wire (will it remain NTSC?)

3. Solder on mod chip

4. 50Hz Fix

In the end achieving a NTSC, Multi-region console.


Other DC console:

Can I use the power in a PAL Unit and put it in alongside my US DC Mobo - negating the use of a Stepdown?

No idea about your first 4 questions but I used to have a PAL power supply in my japanese dreamcast and it worked a treat.

2. Yes it will remain, remove it (after) though as some games will modify it for the worst if you're not careful.

I've done all of the above. I changed my UK Dreamcast into a US machine (60hz and red swirl), mod chipped it to kill the region lockout crap, and left the 220v PSU in.
