    That's not really true.

Well, it's the SCPH-7000x you want to be weary of. They need the romeo mod fix when chipped - otherwise the laser will burn out before long.

Apparently the same happens with the SCPH-5000x series also, when chipped.

Many people also recommend doing the romeo mod regardless of having a chip itself.

That said however, I have a SPCH-50000, SCPH-50003 and a SCPH-70003 and all of them are still working just great - note however none are chipped.

Different people have different experiences for sure though.

    I'd recommend a SCPH-30003 - SCPH-39003

Is that because you've got a chipped PSone or PSone's can output component? I currently use a PS3 Component cable with my PS2 Slim.

Does anyone know if I can use a PS3 Component cable with a PSone or liekwise a PS3 RGB Cable?

RGB SCART cable will be the same across the board. For component I think it has to be chipped, as I don't believe the consoles natively output component.

Component on my PS2 looks way better than RGB SCART on my LCD, on a CRT there's not much in it really.

I'll try my stock SCPH-1002 right now, cba to dig out my PSone AC adaptor..

EDIT: Nah, it's not compatible. But if the console is able, then the pinout will be the same

Thanks for checking that out, so I guess the PS3 cables will only work with a PS2.

I guess the only option is a RGB Scart on PSone or Component PS2 running the PSone games.

            Yup!

Component PS2 will look better on an LCD, but RGB SCART on a PS1 or PS2 will look better on CRT.

So what did you go for in the end? This morning I managed to chip a PSone after much reading about which chip will boot what etc

I'd forgotten that the PSone didn't boot imports when the first lot of chips were fitted to the console and that an import player boot disc was needed, was later made redundant thanks to updated code for modchips.
