    Budget Blu-Ray Player Recommendations

I'm looking for a cheap Blu-Ray player for the parents.

Ideally, I want a region-free player. Ebuyer used to sell a region free player, but it seems to be all sold out now. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/168916 Unfortunately, it seems to be sold out now. Any other recommendations, or played that sell the above player? The Oppo is too expensive.

Alternatively, a region-locked player will suffice in the short term, can anyone recommend a cheap player?

    Cheers!

Asda were selling Philips players for £78 the other week or HMV have Samsung Players with 6 films for £150

This is a good little unit for the money. You can find a region free version (for DVDs, not Blu-ray discs) if you shop around or you can hack it yourself if you have an all in one remote.

Richer Sounds had one for £60 via the VIP (i.e. go instore and ask for the VIP price). Can't remember which one it is though... I'm here to help!

Another vote for the Ebuyer model, picked one up when they had stock. HMV have the same model just a rebadged version for about £80 I think. It throws out a slightly better picture than my PS3! I was, frankly, amazed! There are some f/ware issues i.e. it not being updated, but for £58 with region free capability it's a bargain - I think these are still about on Ebay and they regulalry get sold on AVforums, I can't recommend the little beauty enough.

That rebadged Momitsu is noisy, I warn you. There are a few rebadged variants of it knocking about, the F&H is just one. It also chokes on a lot of Java-heavy discs. Mine skipped about all over the place during Watchmen DC.

Need a DVD/Blu-ray player for the lounge sub ?100 if poss.

Seems the Sony BDP-S360 is the system of choice here.

Does it come with a hdmi cable?

Bought one in April time, and it didn't come with any HDMI cable. Bought it from HMV with 3 free Pixar Blu-Rays.

You can pick up a Toshiba blu-ray player for around ?100, they have some kind of partnership with LoveFilm so they come with a 12 month membership worth almost ?100. I got a BDX2000 and i'm very happy with it, especialy considering I'm going to have a steady stream of bluray's at no additional cost to watch on the thing...

Sony BDP-S370 is better choice as it is newer model. I got mine and it work well. Upscale DVD fantastic and blu ray is good.

I've not used one of those, but the last Onkyo player I reviewed was a little on the slow side, but was otherwise decent.

Unheard of brand. I can get a Goodmans for less!...
