Thanks everyone - I somehow missed this when it flared up again yesterday. Dave Heats very nicely sold me his Gamecube Hori SCII stick, which received yesterday too, and its as nice as everyone keeps saying it is.

As a DC stick owner I felt right at home; apart from the bright colour scheme that matches the Cube more, its practically identical to an unmodified DC one.

I've only had SCII since the tail end of last week, but I went straight from only reaching round 4 with the pad to completing arcade on my first go with the stick. I can block now - hurrah! On the pad I've not got my thumb over B naturally, so my blocking was all over the place.

I thought I'd give an update on my arcade sticks as someone researching building their own may find it useful.

I finally received my Sanwa sticks today. I've fitted one of them to my custom stick in place of my Happ Competition stick.

I've put the jap stick through it's paces on both Capcom Vs SNK2 and VF4Evo so I can say with some conviction that it is far and away the best stick I've ever used.

Those dragon punches were a little elusive on the Happ stick but are achievable every time using the japanese stick. The Happ sticks feel very solid and precise, certainly in comparison to a lot of third party sticks, but the Sanwa feels a lot more "positive" and accurate. I think I'd prefer the Sanwa bat shaped stick rather than the ball top personally but I definately prefer it over my Happ stick.

So much for the good things....the downside?

Unless top mounting, the stick is quite low. Not too bad (about the same as the SCII stick I believe) and Sanwa have made these sticks taller then the old ones I expect because a lot of arcades install them on at least 1/2" control panels.

The other downside is the price

Building one of these sticks costs significantly more than using the Western style sticks.

I'm using the other Sanwa and one of my Happ sticks to build a couple of Neo Geo controllers, more pics when I've finished.

If anyone's got any queries, please PM me.
