Changing PC Keyboard from US to UK

With the installation of a new operating system from a friend my keyboard has been set to a default US setting with @ at the shift 2 key and no pound sign in use.

Can anyone help me in turning it back to the UK.

    Thanks.

Would help if you mentioned what OS.

(and this should be in the PC section really)

    For XP/2k :

Control Panel > Regional & Language Options.

    Regional Options Tab
    Change everything to UK.

    Languages Tab
    Click details button.
Set default input language to English (UK)
Under installed services add uk layout and set as default.

    Advanced Tab
    Set to English (UK)

    OK the lot.

    Reboot.
