I'm a sucker for keeping my desktop as clear of cables as possible so I was thinking of getting the Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse. Is there any reliable and reputable retailer where I could get them for less than the eye watering ?112 that the Apple Store want me to pay?

KRCS do them slightly cheaper - though not too sure if postage goes on top.
Other than that I'm not sure. You might be able to pick up a refurb of both on Apple.com.
/edit postage is £5.10

Two methods, though this may not be very helpful, but here goes:
Buy abroad. This has been my method when buying Apple items. My sister goes to Hong Kong every week and they are always cheaper over there at the local RRP. Recently bought the latest Macbook Pro 15 with a saving of £350 compared to UK prices. Hopefully you'll have a friend or relative going to America or somewhere with cheaper keyboard and mouse.
Higher Education discount. Do you know anybody in university? Either get them to buy it through the student Apple Store and this will give a 14% discount. You can actually do it yourself, just make sure you are using a computer logged into the university network. This is obviously the easier method.
I've recently bought a keyboard and mouse for my laptop, but I went for the wired Apple keyboard with the numpad. I preferred the layout of the directional keys and the addition of the numpad over the wireless ability. Apple no longer sells this keyboard but it is easily found elsewhere. I am more than happy with paying the £26 for it.
Also bought a Logitech mouse since I don't think the Magic Mouse would cut it at all for gaming and it's a tiny bit unergonomic for my liking.
