    WiFi Setup on Dsi XL

Finally DQ IX arrived for me this morning, but i can't for the life of me set the wifi up on it. I just keep getting the Error Code 51300 Unable to connect to access point message. I've tried everything i could think of, including following what was on nintendo's support website regarding that code. I have maximum strength and everything, even set the security to 64bit. But nothing works.

All this has made me realise how archaic the wifi on ds.

My router is a D-Link DIR-855 and it has the most up to date firmware.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Try changing the MTU on the DS unit to 576.

Even with the new wireless chipsets, the DSi/XLs are stupidly fussy.

    *edit*

Loosely on the same subject, anyone know how to install the Nintendo wifi receiver on Windows 7?

        A few questions/suggestions:-

        - Is you router definitely set to WEP encryption? (DS games only support WEP 64/128bit, not WPA/WPA2)
        - Are you entering the WEP hexadecimal key, not the passphrase?
        - Do you have MAC address filtering enabled?
        - Are you using DSi connection settings 1-3, or 4-6?

Also try and change your routers channel to 11 if you can.

yeah, i've done all them things (mac address filtering is disabled). As for connection settings, 4-6 works but theres no option for it in game, so i'm forced to work out how to use 1-3.

It finds my router easily, but it just gives me an error message when i connect. :/

EDIT: Finally sorted it, have to enable 802.11b only.... grrrr.

Glad you got it sorted, although shame you have to use 802.11b

Most routers have a 'mixed' or 'auto' setting that supports both 802.11b and 802.11g at the same time - this works fine with my DS Lite.

mine has a mix but for some reason the ds isn't picking it up. Oh well, i'll just switch when i need it.

no unfortunately, there is only support for windows vista. nintendo stopped supporting the wifi adaptor as most people have routers, i wish nintendo did support it again because the ds doesn't support wpa2 so i can't go online without changing my security and that's a thing i don't want to do.
