Official PS2 RGB Scart on Jpn PS2..

    No worky!

The cable works fine on PAL PS2's but not on my Jap deck.
All other RGB cables work fine on all my ps2's (and ps1's).

What's different about this 'official' cable and can it be fixed?

    Cheers,

Does it give you a green screen or pitch black screen?

If its a green screen then its just the settings in your PS2. Just turn it from composite to RGB.

If its a black screen, check is sound is coming out of it. if it is then.... me don't know....

It gives a steady picture but is filled with some black scrolling interference.
      It's very odd.

The settings on the ps2 'browser' have no effect on the interference. The screen hardly changes when switching between rgb and component.
      Very odd again.

It's definitely something to do with the cable, any techno wizards got any ideas?

it might be wired some how so that it only works properly on a euro ps2/psone, with the sync and all that stuff

I have no idea what could be wrong, but I have an official euro RGB scart coming from my JPN PS2 with no problems (except for some reason it wrongly triggers 16:9 screen ratio when first switched on). But the picture is perfect. Weird.

Some cables will trigger 16:9 mode with some TV's. Nothing special about that.

I have a friend with a JAP PS2, and he's got the official PSX Euro AV cable, and there's nothing wrong with his picture.

Hmm. Cheers for the replies guys. I suspect it's a mod chip issue
The messiah 'colour fix' is to blame perhaps?

The sony cable is wired up to a small pcb with a microchip on it. It's not wired up like your bog standard cables (direct wires/caps etc). I suspect this is why it costs 30 odd quid.

If anyone has any suggestions or workarounds I'd appreciate it.
