    Steam update problems

Ever since major whistles-and-bells update a few weeks back, Steam has been playing up something awful for me. Games crashing, Steam 'not responding' notices, etc., etc.; got so bad (it even crashed tiny programs like Bookworm 2) that I deleted and re-installed the whole thing. Didn't get any improvement so I got rid of it again and maybe for good.

    Anyone else getting this?

I've not had these problems myself, but have you tried the Bug Reports section on the Steam forum? The forum is active enough so that there's normally at least one other person with the same problem as you.

Nope, working fine here... no game or client crashes. Have you checked your system thoroughly for issues?

Ta. system seems to be running fine, at least from the bog standard diagnostics I've been doing. Will check Steam forums.

EDIT: think it was caused by effing Catalyst Control Centre install for ATI graphics card, after prompt from Starcraft II. Useless update servide with ATI. Anyway, went back to pre-installation restore point and Steam games working fine now.

I seem to have a problem since the new UI update, and ever since then I can't seem to update any of my Steam settings, as everytime I click OK Steam just completely crashes.

Not too much of a problem as I already had all my settings configured from before, but at the moment it's a bit of a bugger that I can't update any of my settings. I've also had a lot of crashes on old games like Quake 2 and Counter Strike 1.6 etc.

I guess there will be a lot of little problems like this for a while after the major update, hopefully they'll get ironed out over time though.

Sounds like you've corrupted your configuration file somehow. Try deleting the clientregistry.blob file and then starting the client again.
