Playstation 1 Memory Card Question

I've recently started using my old Playstation 1 again and i've found an old memory card, but I can't remember how the hell to use it!

It's a "NexGen 120" by Datel (I think) and it's one of those memory cards that had multiple layers, but I cannot remember how the hell to change the layers!

I swear you had to hold the shoulder buttons when it loaded up and then you could cycle through the layers, but I cannot find the box/instructions of the life of me!

Do any of you chaps have any idea how it works?

Nope it just has an LED display of which layer you're on. Once you do a particular combination the LED flashes and allows you to change layers.

Never owned the NexGen card back in the day but I had two other 3rd party ones, the first you had to hold select and switch pages with L1 & R1, the other you had to hold I think, L2 & R2 and switch pages with L1 & R1, it may have been the other way round though i.e hold L1 & R1.
