My damn pc

My damn work pc is giving me nothing but grief on trying to play most video formats. Right so what is the latest version of the main programmes and codecs?

I'm having trouble with some AVIs, and WMVs stuttering, sound jerking etc.

I have Windows NT 4.

While on the subject my home machine - XP Home - For some reason doesn't run everyday MID files? Am I missing something there too?

Seeing as how NT4 uses WMP 6.4 which is now pretty old Im not surprised you have these problems. I do also as my work pc is NT4 too, when the same files are viewed in WMP9 they are fine suggesting to me its the version.

If its running NT4 still, what is it like for processor and memory? Playing back a 25Mb 640 pixel Quicktime 6 file stutters on my work 500MHz machine, and even my home machine struggles with the really high res ones.

Indeed. The latest codecs etc may involve mpeg4 (certainly QT6 does), which will need some reasonable computing power.
