Jap Saturn wont boot games - help!

Hi all,

Just bought a minty white Saturn (HST 00-14 model). It powers up fine but won't progress past the CD player screen. I've tried a few different games, all without scratches, but to no avail.

Is this a bad battery issue or a more serious problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as always!

Bad battery has no involvement with it booting games or not.

Could be that the laser is bad?

I had a brand new HST-0014 that did this. Powered up fine, but refused to boot any game except Guardian Heroes, and part of the intro for X-Men:COTA. I had to send it back to Japan for a replacement.
I've never been a fan of Rev.2 Saturns. Grey Asian original model is where it's at.

Yeah, I think it is more than the battery. I've read that it could be something to do with the Saturn not being able to judge the weight of the CD due to it getting damaged somehow. Maybe not.

I think it'll have to go back regardless - I don't fancy going under the hood.
