    ATI tv out problem :(

    Having some tv-out probs

When I click on the display tab, in desktop settings, the button that's used to enable tv-out is always red. Even when not connected to my tv (basically it's never greyed out, astho it always detects a tv).

For some reason I can't ouput to the tele now - it's driving me completely bonkers.

It worked fine for months before hand. I've used various drivers/control panels but still have no luck.

    Help pls

    (I have a 9700 pro btw)

Have you tried removing then reconnecting the s-video cable then checking the control panel?

The tv-out does seem a little iffy on these cards, seems like there's a sweet spot for when the board senses the cable is connected. What I basically did was remove/replace the cable until the tab showed red again and just left it plugged in. The other end I just connect to the telly whenever I want some big screen hijinks. Even if I install another set of drivers its still 'there'. Running 3.7's with no problems, touch wood.

    Hope that helps!

Can't say I've seen red before, but my ATI's a lot older. Sorry, it's probably not much help, but to fix any TV-out related problems on my rather old machine, it was a cable out, power off completely, cable back in and power up job.

Yes m8 - the tab is red whether or not the s-video cable is connected to the gfx card (removing the cable makes no difference). Before, the box was grey when there was no cable (now it's always red)

I'm a bit worried as it was fine for a long time before now - completely stumped

Are you restarting each time you insert\remove the cable?

Usually - i've tried most things I can think of.

There's usually a picture of a wire with a red cross in it (in the display bit of the settings) - when the gfx card isn't connected to the pc. I never get this in the tv section anymore - the pc always 'thinks' a tele is connected :/
