Help with NTSC/PAL X Box switch

Finally received ESPN Football (X Box) from Gobiln after 3 weeks of waiting, but I can't get the bastard to work properly. As it loads up I get sound but no picture, It's the same problem that I had with NFL2K3 but then I realised I just had to set the videomode to Pal, but with ESPN I can't get any visuals on either setting. Any ideas?

I had this problem with an Xbox too, have you got Evo-x dashboard installed on your machine?

Also, do you know what Bios your running?

I do have Evo-X installed, but I'm not sure what Bios is running. I've never fiddled around with it myself, I just got someone else to do it for me, any ideas?

I think its an evo-x problem, try changing your eeprom to US and just playing the game with the chip switched off (unless of course you can't switch your chip off)

ok, and... um... how would I go about changing the eeprom?

Config magic to change the eeprom, have you tried the enigmah region switch as pal EA games always seem to play up on my jap xbox.

The region switch doesn't make any difference. I've got Config Magic, and it has options such as on-the-fly eeprom and load eeprom from bin. but I have no idea how to actually change it to US- I'm clueless about these things, thanks for the help by the way guys.

a search from an old thread dug this up

                Load EEPROM
                Backup File
                Unlock HDD
                Adjust setting (NTSC, Region 1)*
Modify EEPROM (this implements your setting)
                Lock again

*This is for US setting. Type it exactly as it appears above, but without the parantheses. I suppose Jpn setting is region 2?

hope that all helps somehow, iirc thats how i did mine

As has been said use the Enigma pal/ntsc prog to change to ntsc (I've got it running from the hard disk through EvoX) but also make sure that you're Xbox is running in PAL50 mode not PAL60 from the original MS Dashboard. If you do this it works fine.

Ive only just thought about this now but...

If you use the video switch mode to select NTSC US, and then turn off the modchip will you PAL machine then act like an unmodded NTSC machine and permit you to run the US game over XBL without being banned?

No, that only patches the eeprom to make the video mode switch to NTSC. To play US games without the modchip you have to totally change the eeprom.

I've not long had by modded XB with EvoX, so excuse my ignorance, but do you have to do this EEPROM stuff every time you want to play an NTSC game? I was under the (apparently false) impression that I just out the disc in and the chip sorted the rest out...

Apparently you can change the bios and turn the chip off so you could in fact play US games on a PAL machine over Xbox LIVE.

                          This is a great idea.

Dont worry Jashin, this is only a special case. 90% of the time you can just leave the game in NTSC 60hz mode and play everything. British and american. its only certain games (mostly from EA) that create problems
