[Xbox 360] Same profile/gamertag on multiple consoles

Hi,

I recently purchased a JP Xbox 360 and after setup I 'recovered' my Gamertag on it. It currently has no hard drive and it is saved on the internal memory. I will be adding a hard drive soon.

Today I switched on my PAL console (with a hard drive) and it said something about my Gamertag being recovered on another system, and that I would need to recover it again (on the PAL one) to be able to sign in.

How can I avoid this conflict? Is it not possible to have my profile on each hard drive (or internal memory like I have for now) for both consoles and just sign in?

Best thing to do would be to take your profile on the go via a memory card or USB, no recoveries would be needed.
Also you can't have your profile on 2 HD's which sign into live.

So should I copy my profile to a memory card or USB, then delete the profile from the hard drive(s) and internal memory?

Yeah pop the profile onto USB/Memory Card it should remove it completely from the HD's and now be on the USB/Memory Card, just delete the other one and use one profile on Stick and swap between two consoles you should be fine.
Only have 1 xbox myself BUT I am sure that is the way to go, maybe someone could confirm with 2 xboxes.

Can't say for different region 360s, but my brother has his profile and save games on a memory card and uses it between my 360 and his own (both PAL).

Works fine for different regions. I just swap my HDD between consoles. USB/Memory card will work fine too.

I use a 256Mb memory card for my profile/save games and just switch it between systems.

Everything else is just installed to the HDD on the consoles.

Can I have game saves on the HDD and just the profile on the memory card or does the game saves have to be on the memory card aswell?

They can be saved on either. I only keep saves for region free games on the memory card.

I *think* I'm right in saying you can't play installed games on the HD if you swap your HD between machines. It comes up with an error akin to "You can only play this game on the machine it was installed on".

Yeah just take your HHD off and put it on any 360 I do it with my 3 PAL and 1 US and soon to be Jap 360
