    photoshop/paintshop question

i know nothing about this/these tools. i have paintshop pro 7 on my computer but have no idea how to use it, but i was wondering, is paintshop what people use to edit images? whenever you see really well done fakes online people always say you photoshopped them, so whats paintshop? im confused

also, if it is paintshop pro that people use, does anyone know a good tutorial site? and yes, i do have google

Do yourself a favour and somehow get a copy of Photoshop, if you're gonna learn something, for fun or profession may as well use a program that other people can relate to - eg prospective employers, printers, output bureaus etc.
Plus, Photoshop is easy to use and very powerful.

Just my opinon as a Photoshop user & business owner...

Because they're robbing bastards, be thankful you're not after Quark!
Bought mine when it was on version 5, upgrades are a lot cheaper than buying straight off.

Normally magazines, Computer Arts (stuff like that) have a 30 day trial. Maybe you should have a go with that first?

The other option is to do what the majority of people do but swear they don't....

Paintshop is a good, cheap art package. Has some neat tools and does some tasks better than Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop is the defacto industry art tool. It's used by pros to touch up photographs, make videogames etc.

Its expensive because the people that use it, need it. Adobe milk them for all its worth.

I have a proper copy of Photoshop!

I didn't pay for it though, the company did! LOL.

You'd have to be one crazy/rich fool not to burn a copy of that.

Best GFX program by far, I've been using it since version 3 back in '96. Anything is possible.

Teach Yourself Paint Shop Pro 7 in 24 hours, is a good place to start
                  (isbn 0-672-32030-4)

Version 8 has just come out, so the old books may be cheaper.
