Modded xbox dvd playback issues

Just noticed (well the daughter did) that when the xbox is playing a dvdthe screen is sort of like tearing. Not screen tearing like on the 360 but when something is fast moving you can see really thick lines like the screen isnt refreshing fast enough.

Its like this on xbmc and DVDX2. Its a pal console in pal 60 running and region 1 buffy dvd

What version is the console, xbmc and how is it connected to tv?

Force NTSC perhaps?

Could be a resolution issue..

Is it softmodded? Has it been converted to ntsc video mode (via enigmah-x disc) to get the progressive scan modes?

Sounds like it's playing in interlaced.

Sorry for th late reply. Ive just used the latest AID installer (4.52)as it was a really old xbmc and it seems better but not perfect.

Its originally a pal unit in ntsc mode (enigmah vid change) and im trying to watch my buffy DVDs (region 1).

its hard to descraibe but split the scren horizontally 20 times and when some thing fast moving happens its like alternate lines are out by a few mm. Sort of like really low interlacing resolution.

Oh its connected by official av cable on a bog standard 4:3 tv as i wanted to rewatch them all correctly without big bars on the side.

Also that this doesnt affect divx files only dvds

p.s also with the latest xbmc how do you enter the MS dash as it used to be (push right stick in) and it was on the shut down menu.

I had a similar situation when trying to play US Region locked titles, and found the only thing that worked for me was using one of the stand alone basic dvd apps otherwise all I got was gliched up garbage?
