    Forcing 60hz

Right so i've got lots of PAL SNES and MD games and I cant really be bothered to replace them all...

    1. so.... will playing them in forced 60hz mode be ok? or will they be wrong in any way?

    2. Also, I have a few Saturn games i'd also like to the same with - isn't their a list online somewhere that details which games were optimised and which weren't?

    3. Finally even if they are optimised can I still play them in forced 60hz? (as the XRGB doesnt support 50hz)

    Thanks in advance!

Dunno about the Snes, but some MegaDrive games were sped up (such as Sonic 2). The games will still play, they'll just run too fast, and perhaps slow down more.

S3M maintains a list of optimised Saturn titles. The Saturn was somewhat weird in that some games were semi-optimised, not quite full screen but enlarged enough so that they overscan at 60Hz.

Some Snes games go too fast as well. Off the top of my head Pal Super Tennis is crazy fast when forced into 60hz mode.

I think Super Mario Kart does the same thing.

Well, flipping that 50/60hz switch on your Mega Drive will put "slow" games to NTSC/60 standard Krish.

Same can be done for SNES, via a switch.

That's weird, I didn't think Sonic 2 was running incorrectly when I put it into 60Hz...

Generally, PAL Mega Drive games can be played fine in 60Hz, but SNES games more often than not, will run in a slightly f***** up fashion. There are exceptions, though.

You know, I'm pretty sure you have access to all versions of MD games on a cart. Perhaps the PCB remains the same across regions, apart from those that are region locked.

For example, SoR2 turns into Bare Knuckle 2 when I flip my JP and 60hz switches on my MD1.

So, I believe your Sonic 2 would just turn into the NTSC-U version, running with NTSC video at the correct speed.

I'm pretty sure that is the exception rather the rule. Only a handful of MD game change their region (language / title screen etc) by forcing 60hz or region switch.

Having said that I haven't encountered any problems in forcing 60hz on pal MD games. I think they were mostly unoptimised, maybe all?

I can only think of PAL Thunder Force IV really that was speed fixed.

I know Mercs can also be changed in that way, perhaps Gynoug too. Hm.

Need to do an undate for it as well, never had any issue of PAL Saturn games running to fast. However some are totally unplayable at 60hz, thinking of getting a modded MD myself to play my PAL games at 60hz so I would be interested in the problems found.

As for the SNES I heard so many horrible stories about PAL games running at 60hz I just invested into the US & JP consoles.
