    Knackered monitor help

My monitor seems to have died. Well not died completely - right now I think it is hovering in Limbo. The power light no longer comes on, and it won't display anything, but the screen is kind of flickering whilst remaining completely black. I imagine all that's happening is the backlight, or whatever illuminates the screen, is flicking on and off, with about a second inbetween. It's just an emachines model - 700G or something. Do you reckon it's snuffed it, or could there be a way to fix it? Thanks guys

It's probably uneconomical to repair it. Sounds light a backlight issue. How much did it cost originally?

It came with my computer about 5 years ago. It's certainly not anything special and is only my backup monitor (so I can use the internet whilst using my main monitor as an ntsc tv), so any piece of crap monitor will do, but monitors are big, so it's not like I can just pick one up off ebay for a couple of quid

Maybe ask at your local dump for them to keep an eye out for one? I assume you're talking about a CRT...

This one is flat, but I'd take anything. I think I can borrow one from some one for a while though, so it's not too bad.
