    vga to scart lead

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to set my sony vaio vgn-n38e/w up to my lg 42lh3000, i know the laptop has a vga port, can somebody please suggest the best lead to use for the tv?

    thank you

    Something like this

    At least that's what I think this is "RGB In (D-sub 15pin) - PC" (from here@ http://www.lg.com/uk/tv-audio-video/...v-42LH3000.jsp)

Most HD Ready TVs have a PC input.
Basically if you find a port on the back of the TV that looks like the one on the Vaio, then sorted.

Indeed, there's no reason to use Scart when you can connect your TV to the TV directly using VGA or HDMI.

You can get VGA to RGB SCART convertors, but avoid them like the plague. Windows through SCART looks bobbins due to low resolution, interlacing flicker and overscan:

As others have said, your TV has a VGA input, so get a simple VGA cable like the one Charles linked to and use that.

ok i'll try the vga to vga im not sure if it has that connection on the tv, but i'll see how it goes only £3 so worth a go.

            cheers everyone!

According to the link Charles posted it does. I don't know of any modern TV that doesn't.

I think LG label what most people call the "VGA" input as "RGB".

The description isn't that much off since VGA also uses the RGB color format to transmit video data. There are other differences that make VGA and RGB-Scart incompatible without further signal processing/converting, though.

Yes, "PC" RGB is RGBHV whereas the version on SCART uses Composite sync. And the SCART version obviously works around interlaced sync rates.

They're both RGB, but that's about it.
