    Sloooow dashboard on Xbox live

When I am logged into live it takes ages to use any of the dashboard functions.

It takes a while to load up friend information like gamer pic/score. Even my Halo reach was intermittantly freezing last night when I was trying to access the local store files in the theatre.

When I am logged out of live it seems to work fine. I have cleared my cache and have 78GB space free.

My internet is 6.5meg download and 1 up. Computer is working fine. Any ideas?

In my experience these kind of things can be caused by network problems? You tried using pingtest.net?

You could also try deleting and recovering your ganertag, that can sometimes clear up odd problems as there are temp files inside that.

Packet loss test could not be completed. Tried it 3 times.

What is packet loss? when I shoot someone it will appear on my screen but not register damage on the server?

It's basically information that is sent but is lost along the way so never reaches Its destination.

        Who is your ISP?

Turn off power to your router and modem for 10+ minutes and then turn them on again.

Try connecting With a cable (if you are wireless) or try connecting straight to your modem (if you have a separate modem)

If those things don't work then you may need to call your ISP, there could be a fault.

O2 is my ISP. They say there is no fault but cannot run a full test as I do not have my O2 wireless box hooked up (I use a netgear wired).

I deleted my gamertag and now I cannot recover it because xbox live says sign up is not currently available.

I turn my router off at the mains every night but I will try the 10 min tip.

I also have all relevant ports open for xbox live.

Its odd because as soon as the ethernet went into the back of the xbox everything just slows up. Even the achievement pages of games played.

          The PC is streaming lovely....???

          thanks for the advice.

The xnox dash is a bit 'sensitive' when it comes to being connected online, as you said it mskes no sense that ut works fibe unplugged, but plugging it in makes it slower.
I take it everything has been working ok up until recently?

See if there is a firmware update available for the router.
You could try changing the filter on the broadband phone line (also, if you have any other phone sockets with phones connected, there should be filters on those , if there isn't, try unplugging them)

Also try running the built in network test on xbox and see if you get any messages

              error status messages:-
              W: 0000-000B
              X: 0000-F001
              Y: 20A8-4840
              Z: 0000-0000
              ID: FFFF-FFFF

Says its connected to live on the main test though?

I use a ADSL nation wall plate filter so annoyingly it is not easy to change. Will check for firmware though.

              cheers

When I was with 02 the connection would become saturated every few months and anything like LIVE would be unplayable. Not saying it is 02 if streaming is fine but it seems all too familiar to me. Slow dash usually = poor nets (because LIVE streams in all the content when it connects)

We have found the real issue at play:-

                  E74

I never thought it would happen to me......................

oh dears, you still should of passed Pingtest, so maybe there are other problems anyway.

Try doing a packet loss test via the command line

                          goto start
                          run
                          cmd

                          type

                          ping www.google.co.uk -t

let it run for a while then ctrl+C and it will tell you your packet loss in %

Not sure if it's O2, I use them and there fast as hell for me and it never goes down. 10mb+ down when i run pingtest.

lots of environmental factors can affect your connection, it might be fine for you but all the equipment connected to him may be different
