Resolution problem with HP pavilion dv9000

Recently installed windows 7 on my laptop but the resolution is all off. Had vista on it before and the picture was quite sharp, but now its all fuzzy and low rez.

I've tried to install the screen driver again but it doesn't seem to want to have it and just stays as is, and windows 7 says that the correct driver is installed. Im out of ideas now but its bugging me as it just doesn't look right.

Any ideas would be appreciated guys.

Which precise model of DV9000 is it? Have you got the latest video driver from HP's website? There's is a long thread about upgrading a DV9000 to W7 on the support forums, which might bear reading...

The DV series is the biggest pile of **** ever created. Even HP recalled a huge chunk of them due to dodgy inverters and lcd panel cables. The sad fact is that unlike other laptops the DV series has just a single heatsink spanning the cpu and gpu and its totally inadequate. Pathetic cost cutting by HP leading to monumental financial losses due to panels screwing up all over the place as the GPU burns out.

Anyway, as mayhem said, check the drivers, but if this does not work then you might be seeing the start of the aforementioned problems. Could need a GPU reflow, or failing that a motherboard relacement.

How do i know this? I've been trying to repair one all pigging day with a near identical problem! lol

Ill keep going down that driver list until something works or doesn't.

The laptops my dads and vista being vista got an irreparable virus, so i formatted the hard drive and put windows 7 on it but wasn't expecting this, ive installed 7 on a little nettop i have at work and my mums laptop and all fine there.

Either way ill keep you posted thanks guys.
