Wii - Gamcube Wavebird help...

Just bought Zelda:LTTP for the Wii, said it works with the Classic controller or Gamecube controller.
Bought the game but on loading it says 'attach classic controller to the player A remote or press A to return to Wii menu'.

But if press A on the Gamecube controller it returns me to the Wii menu, every other button does sweet FA!!

Am I doing something wrong???

Yeah, if I press A on the wavebird it also takes me back to the Wii menu.

Really annoying, was really looking for ward to playing this again.

Why not get the GC version if you want to play it with a wavebird?

Ignore this. I got my Zeldas mixed up but I'll also have a look later as I'm interested now.

It wasn't the fact I wanted to play it on the wavebird, it was the fact there is a Wii in the front room, so it was easier, I have it on US SNES, but just fancied a bit of SNES gaming after playing Secret Of Mana 2 (SD3).
Got it working last night just as I was going to bed, tried all the ports and one worked.
However then played it for 2 hours and didn't get to bed to 3am and my boy got up at 5.550am, and now I'm suffering.
Plus I have now got to drive down from Norwich to London to JVC to see their new projectors and I don't seem to have quite the same excitement as I did.
