    Neo Geo AES

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there's any specific revisions or whatever that I should be looking at? I'm planning to buy myself an AES setup for Christmas but am unsure what I should be looking for. I'm not too fussed about being about it being boxed but a little advice on console variations and where I can get one for a decent price inside (or outside) of the UK?

    Any help appreciated!

Get a 30-50k serial JP machine else you're going to be looking at an RGB bypass mod. The RGB out on the later consoles is worse than composite - no lie, its terrible.

Get a JP one also. Around £130 for an unboxed nice condition system with stick, RGB cable for a tenner. Mint boxed system maybe £190-£250

    Welcome to collector hell.

Oh yeah, old style rectangle stick > neo-cd style kidney bean stick every day.

I plan to either modify my TE further so it has the Neo port, or get an Agetec stick.

I can't really be messed with a box really - a good condition one will do me. Gonna be wasting way more money on complete games eh?

I'll definitely get a JP one like you're described then, I'll not bother with the Uni-bios just yet but I'll keep that in mind. Cheers kern, any idea where's best to get one?

Sadly your best bet at the moment is ebay, they are pretty good prices, just ask for the serial number first else its gonna cost / take time to RGB bypass mod it also, and if you have it open you might as well fit a unibios.

Last system I owned I bought from zaki matar on here, and it was almost brand new boxed, that was like 3yrs or more ago and it was around £200 or so. I had to give chaoticjelly £70 to mod it as the RGB was terrible on it, big stripy bars going down the screen, once he had modded it it was as good as an MVS systems RGB.

Games I'd get first are SS2 and KOF98, all time classics and can be had for 20-25 and 60-65.

It's such a lovely system, if I was loaded I'd definitely have one again. I just went a bit crazy last time. Sold 3 carts and it paid for a whole cab!

          Think this mod would suffice?

I'm confident in my modding ability, and I don't mint breaking any seal or whatever.

            Yup, thats the one.

edit: actually this is the simpler method of http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/neo/video.htm#bypass

If you can get away with the simple one go for it

Found a "Serial Number ( 050047 )" today. Think this would be okay?

Think its 30-55k or so, but yeah it should be fine. I've had a 33,50-something, and a 200 and the first two were fine.

I've just got an AES and the serial number is 101656 - think this will need RGB modding, Kernow? Not actually had chance to try it yet as I'm waiting for some games to arrive.

Possibly, the best way would be to try it sadly. I've only had 33,55,220 so I'm not sure about those ones, it'll be better than the last ones made but probably worse than the originals I imagine. On the 220k's it was worse than composite, absolutely horrible.

If you get big stripes down the screen when you try it with a game, then yup.
