    Wii not displaying GC games...

Trying to get a bit of GC going on my new(ish) tv...

I'm sure they worked on my old screen but they won't display through component on my new screen. Any ideas?

Currently can't see anything as I changed it to 60hz from 480p and am at loss...

Edit - seems to have been a temporary bug. Wii games still won't display in 480p but they will show up in 60hz...

    Odd but manageable I guess.

Has anyone got any idea about this?

The 3 display options are 576i (50hz), 480i (60hz) and 480p (60hz). Pal cube games don't have the option to run in 480p, but they should still display over component (I've never had any trouble). I assume wii games work fine?

The Wii games are fine. Maybe it was just a temporary thing, I was messing about at 1am so I'll try again tonight.

Donkey Konga seemed a bit laggy though.

I found Donkey Konga completely unplayable on either of my LCD tvs through my Cube or my Wii :-( It was awesome stuff on my old Trinitron.

EDIT: What TV do you have Mr There?

I have an RGB bad boy Sony in the corner for SNES - maybe I should hook up my Wii to that as well.

The Wii games look fine on the LG though.

              Stupid question time:

              1. You are using a component cable aren't you?
              2. Can you clarify what does and doesn't work?

                1. yes.
                2. Wii works in 480p. Wii games and VC games do work. GC games boot but then the screen goes black. A change to 60hz mdoe on the Wii makes the GC games run.

                That's about it really.

So the PAL Wii doesn't auto switch?

This is why I use a GameCube. Heh.

Yeah but my GC is JP / US switched and my Donkey Kongas are Pal... Grumble grumble.

That is odd. I use the same setup (component and LCD) and PAL GC games work fine in 480p...

                        Switching to 480i more like.

Mine does. Doesn;t matter what I put in there it all works even with the Wii set to 480p. It all just adjusts to whatever's supported by that game.

You do know that you have to hold a buttoning the pad as the game boots to set it onto 480p on cube games?

I think its the same if you are playing on a wii

                              What a minefield...

More investigation is required tonight I feel.

And I was going to start Vanquish as well!
