Looking for a audio pc to hifi streamer

my dad has backedup all his music on his computer but uses the cds on his hi fi so was wondering is there a device (ideally cheapish) that i could hook up to the computer that then wirelessly transmits music to the hi fi

as far as i know his hi fi just has the usual jack plugs

I was looking for this a while back and settled on an airport express, if you use the windows program airfoil with it you can stream from any application and not just itunes.

Airport is £65 from apples site, airfoil is £20 or so. Works really well, I've been using mine for a couple years now and had no issues, easy to setup. I just use mine straight from itunes with lossless music however.

Either that or a second hand logitech squeezebox.

Or just running a long cable from the PC to the stereo? Cheapest method.

Squeezebox. Free server software for the PC that he can try out before he buys. It will also stream the music over the internet to his office or wherever if he fancies. Recognises all file types. Has a really good DAC so will connect to his phono sockets and still sound good.

I must admit I connect my airport to an external DAC, but I'm using it via optical. Could get a used airport for about £50 mind
