PS3 / Wii VGA Cable-- will this work on the PS2

Question is in the title; will one of these cables work on the PS2? Has anyone attempted this? I'm looking for a cheap way to connect the PS2 to a computer monitor. Thanks for any replies.

Probably not as it'd work in VGA resolutions... but maybe!

Would work for PS2, but the monitor will only pick up progressive signals. So games that output 480p basically. Can be forced with certain modchips - but otherwise you need game support and very few games have support.

How about the "GSM" homebrew application that allows you to enforce video modes?

Perhaps, I'm unfamiliar with it but you need progressive video or there will be no signal.

PS2 will only work with green on sync monitors. Tekken 4 is the only playable game via VGA to my knowledge.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

I think this could be used with a VGA cable, could it not? You could force 480p. I seem to recall seeing a Blaze VGA cable being sold in shops a few years ago.

That requires the Blaze software but yeah. Dunno if it's much cop. People use it on shmups.system11 to force prog video.

I did try it through component. The HD modes were a waste of time as they didn't actually scale the image and you had a massive black border.

480p seemed to work fine, though. I didn't end up using it much though because it showed up all the ghosting around text which the interlaced signal was too fuzzy to display.

HD Box Pro / XRGB is a far better option. Especially HD Box Pro as it's less than £100, £30ish I believe.

                        Wouldn't GSM work though?

Depends on if you have modified your hardware, and with which kind of chip. However you'd still only be able to play games that support 480p, which isn't that many over here.

If you are un-modified you'll only be able to play Tekken 4 as previously said. I'd imagine the PS2 would treat that cable as though it was an official VGA cable. Green on sync only.

Gradius V looks awesome in VGA. It can be tricked in 480p with the BLAZE VGA box and disc (but its not the easist to use)

Don't you know what GSM is? It's used to enforce video modes, so all you need is some way to run homebrew, and for me that is Free McBoot.
