That's malware/scareware trying to trick you into buying a license for software that doesn't exist. The good news is your hardware is likely fine, the bad news is these things can be a pain to remove. Have you opened any attachments recently, or been to some potentially dodgy sites?

    I've had success with http://www.superantispyware.com/

Run a few full scans. Good luck.

//edit - don't click anything in the Win HDD menu

Yep, you've installed malware on your PC. Use the program H-Man suggested, and then get some decent anti-virus software (such as MS Security Essentials or Avast). Personally I'd be wiping the whole disk and starting over from scratch, but that's just me... don't like to take risks.

anti-virus scanners are getting much better at removing these but they can still be a royal pain in the arse.

MS security essentials is a great scanner, very low footprint and it picks up quite a lot. Malware bytes can pick up stuff it misses.

you may need to run a scanner in safemode to remove it. A lot of fake scanners disable scanners or even force a blue screen if they detect a scan.

Yep, that's a fake, like the fake anti virus programs doing the round last year. Try your anti spyware stuff such as SuperAntiSpyware, AdAware and Spybot, and if that fails, go for HijackThis and get someone to analyse the output...

also try malware bytes is another good one.

see if you can get into msconfig and under the startup tab disable anything with dodgy file names and if your confident check the registry files too, regedit etc.

I had got one of them fake antivirus things a few months back, a right pain to remove, if you dont want to format the disc.

There's a really nasty one around that totally mimics the Windows security center, you'd have to be really alert to notice it's scamware (at least up until it asks for CC info).

Finds malware, says you don't have any AV active, has a list of AV software which are all real programs (but of course the 'recommended ones' are the scamware ones).
