Need help setting up a DS book reader

So I got my mother a DS, since she wants to read books on it. Got a flash card too.

Now, there's homebrew readers, such as DS Reader, but I'm going to need help with this. One site claims I need to download it and then patch it, before installing drivers. Are they serious? Where can I find a clean copy of DS Reader?

Also, it suddenly occurred to me, where does one find free books in TXT format? Googling brings up torrents, or free books in PDF format.

Keep it all legal chaps, if I was going to pirate this stuff I'd just dl that 100 books thing they released. Thought I'd try my hand at being a legitimate citizen for once.

Easier said than done, as most material is copywrited, your gonna struggle. There are plenty of sites for books, like, free-ebooks.net and 4shared.com but as you might expect the choice is limited to say the least.

DS readers tbh aren't up to much imo. The screen isn't big enough unless you have an XL. There will probably be others on here who have got some decent HB readers and site pointers tho.

Now if you were to stray the other side of the legal line...............

I think most of Project Gutenberg is available in TXT format.
As mentioned though it is not ideal.
On a small scale an ipod touch with Stanza and a back end of Calibre is so many times better. Once the ebooks are in Calibre they can be converted beween formats to work on virtually anything.
      A Kindle is only £109

Yeah, I might just get a Kindle if that's the case. The DS is technically mine, since I don't play it anymore (I wasn't being thrifty, honest!).
