TV screen dimming to green, visible retrace lines

What would cause my tv to dim and turn green, and the retrace lines (horizontal angled lines spanning the screen) to become visible?

My tv, although cheap, is only a few months old.. would like to know whats causing this.

well those diagonal lines usually happen when the tube is stretched too much horizontally. Getting an engineer to calibrate the TV properly might fix that.

... but if the screen dimming and turning green, sounds like its bust. Time to get it replaced, I'd say.

      Thanx papercut.

I am pretty certain its not the tube dying, after reading some posts on online about similar problems it seems more like its a brightness issue, like a screen voltage is too high.

I immediately thought it was the tube too (always seems to be the first thing to go) but this dosent seem to be the case.

Also, this problem happens randomly. It won't happen for days, then it will happen twice in one day. Dosent usually last for long, turning the set on and off usually fixes it, or it passes in a few minutes.

Would love to find it out its simply fixed through the service menu.

If it's happening every so often then it's likely to be a major fault or possibily a dry joint. I would get it looked at if it's under warrenty. Things like Screen Brightness are adjusted on the LOPT in the TV, which require you to open the TV up...

Almost 2 years ago my Toshiba starting to develop something similar (it was about 2 and a 1/2 years old at the time). It was intermittent at first. Would have the problem then would be fine, then it would return for longer until eventually it remained all the time. The green tint was especially noticeable (it happened when I got Devil May Cry and when it was fixed, it was a revelation to notice Dante wore a red coat).

Turned out the tube needed replacing (according to the engineer that visited anyway). Took so long to arrange though as it happened over the Christmas period. Definately got an engineer to look at it, if possible.

The joy of discovering solutions by reading any topic available.

My TV shows those diagonal lines, specially if a colour fills the screen, for example, green in a snooker match in Eurosport last Sunday.

I blamed it on changing the TV location in April, but as I know how to access the service menu and I have used it in the past, it's possible that I stretched it too much horizontally.

            I'll give a try. Cheers.

Be aware that on some TVs you can blow up / damage TVs if you mess with the certain options in the Service menu, make sure you know what each option does before changing it....

I'll never touch anything that is not geometry related. The TV was really ****ed on the parabolla setting. The adjustment I did on the horizontal size was minor, but ...

                Thanks for the advice.
