    PSOne chippery...

I'm looking into buying a PSOne + screen for the car and wondered if it's at all possible to have them modified for multi region play.

I know that the power supply is the same for all PSOne consoles.

Although, for some strange reason I've never heard of anyone with a chipped PSOne before.

I need it to play Jap. games for my shooters and beat 'em ups and US games for the RPGs.

It is possible but they use a diferent chip that is a little harder to install. Last time i looked into it Lik-sang and golden shop both had the chips in for them.

      Ok - cheers Shim.

Does anyone know who can chip a PSOne for me then? I'm **** at this sort of thing.

It'd probably be better if I can find one for sale that's been pre-modded no doubt.

I have a chipped Psone - got it premodded from whitedog - (www.whitedog.co.uk sorry no link but my html is rubbish!). They seem to have done a good job (well it works fine) not massively cheap at ?70 but then a new one will still cost you ?50ish I suppose!

OK - Cheers for the help so far...

          Just one last question.

Will the PAL screens display imports in colour using either a chipped PSOne or an untouched PSOne using the PS-Xchange disc? Something tells me they won't.

The reason I'm so fussy is that most of my PSOne games are already imports you see - and I don't want to have to re-collect them again or play them in B+W in the car.

Ideally I need a PSOne that will play imports in colour on the go. I think I may need to track down an NTSC screen + NTSC/modded console for this to become a reality.

EDIT! Just to keep you guys updated - I've bought an official Sony PSOne screen from the US, I've contacted Whitedog to ask them if their Modded PSOnes will work with the NTSC screen for imports. Fingers crossed, eh?
