A simple Zelda ?? (Please CLOSE I now feel stupid!!)

Finally I have some time on my hands to get into Zelda but after a small amount of play I have got stuck and I am getting infuriated as it can't be as difficult as I am making it look.

I am stuck at the entrance to the first proper dungeon on Roost Mountain. I have filled the pool to get to the entrance and I have got one of the statues to fall to allow me to cross the lava however I cannot manage to get a flower bomb into the other statue bowl to create the second stepping stone. I have tried all combinations of buttons and changing the wind but I am unable to get the bomb in the bowl...

I'm sure this is really simple but please can someone give me some pointers as it is driving me mad!!!!!!

Can't really remember but try timing your throw of the bomb until the last second so that it explodes on the platform you wish to fall?

Nah no good I guess there must be a way of jumping to the first stepping stone without throwing the bomb????

Are you standing on the ledge, or on the fallen statue? Sorry if that's insulted you, but I had to check

Knock the first statue over, pick up a bomb and jump on the second statue. Aim and throw it at the hole. It's simple, there's nothing you've missed or anything like that.

Have I missed a way of jumping without throwing the bomb? Everytime I get to the edge to jump to the first statue the green hat wearing tw*t just thows the bomb!!!

OMG what an idiot I am being... I have been pressing A every time I got to a ledge to jump when in fact just pushing forward does the trick

OK I feel stupin now Mods please close....

Pick a bomb up, and run towards the edge of the ledge. Link will jump automatically (don't press anything here). As you land on the first statue you can throw the bomb (with the A button iirc).
