Depending on your needs the HD Box Pro is great. Being a poor student I've only got my pc monitor to use. 360 and ps3 can both plug in directly via vga and dvi but I needed something for the wii. For its price the HD Box Pro is great and works about as well as you could expect.

It's worth noting that I had trouble with mine not once but twice. I'm pretty sure it was because the power cable supplied sat very loosely and would often make scary sparking noises . The guys at the site were very helpful though and replaced it both times and sent me a different power cord the second time when they realised what was happening.

Thanks for all the info people.
Cheers for the offer of the test BK. After reading around it seems some of it is to do with the TV and displaying 240p, as the component leads knock psone games into this mode rather than 480i. I shall wait to recieve my Ps2 and have a test with the component leads before proceeding with picking up an upscaler I reckon.

I dug out a couple of PS1 games but wasn't able to boot the PS2 in PS1 mode...I don't remember which modchip is installed (you have to keep reset pressed until the blue light comes on for PS1 games to work) and on 90% of the times I got the invalid disk screen; the remaining 10% the PS2 was on but delivered no A/V output.
The PS2 and the modchip work and right now I can't connect the PS2 with other leads to see if it's a component problem.

Yeah, sounds like the old Messiah, although could be a DMS - although the latter I used to have (and that's what's coming back to me ) and I think that could be a joypad press actually.

Have just booted GSModeselector from the memory card and seems to do what a HDBox pro would anyway. Managed to boot pretty much all my PS2 titles in either 480p or 720p, with the former looking lovely on a 47" LCD. Strangely it looks better than the many of the games' own 480p modes (those that support it of course). With Sega Ages: Virtual-On looking way better using GSModeselector than the native 480p on the disc!
Anyway finally got my the games looking really nice on an LCD and can meddle and move the image until my heart's content. I'm not too far off CRT quality (he said looking at the shiny 47" 21st century television )

So is GSM good then? I used it briefly on my debug PS2 but that seems to boot everything in 60hz anyway. Might have to hook my PS2 up to the HD TV.

Yeah, seems pretty good so far. Although didn't seem to make any difference on Thunderforce VI - does that support and/or boot into 480p automatically? I'm assuming not as my TV recgonise it as 480i, and thereafter 480p when using GSM, but can't notice any difference really, so thought I'd ask.

Hmmm, seems to boot in 480p ok on my set. Both via the triangle and X mode and with GSModeselector.

Thanks mate, I'm happy with the component lead at mo mate with the GSmodeselector and ratehr oddly the component switcher I bought also seems to impove the picture further (not fully sure why that would be!). But cheers for the link
